ASSISTEZ A LA NAISSANCE D'UN FUTUR GRAND LIEU DE CULTURE

Sachez que dans les mois à venir devrait s'offrir à nous la construction de l'un des plus grands chantiers architecturaux de l'année 2007 : celui, à Dubaï, de la septième et nouvelle bibliothèque centrale. Elle sera située face à la mer, plus exactement à Al Mamzar, location qui lui donne son nom.

En 2006 déjà l'on connaissait les grandes lignes du projets, grâce à un communiqué fait par Essa Al Maidour, assistant du directeur en charge de ces projets à la municipalité, directeur du département des Contrats et Achats :

"We have chosen this beautiful location for the library given the significance of library in enlightening the community members. Moreover, a less-congested area means a lot of interest among the public. People can come to the library and enjoy reading in a relaxed environment, while enjoying the scenic location. [...]

The preliminary designs have been selected through a contest among internationally-renowned and experienced consultants. These designs show a book-shaped building that reflects the library's main theme. [...]

The main activities of the library would concentrate on the middle part of the building where natural lighting from all part would light up the entire area. The basement would be dedicated for parking which will accommodate as many as 1000 cars. Other facilities of the central library will include administrative and technical sections, reading halls, service areas, children's library, business library, exhibitions and conference centre, and training halls."

L'espace architectural, vaste de 50 000 m², est donc entièrement conçu par un groupe de consulting du groupe ASP, un groupe d'architectes allemands basé à Stuttgart qui a remporté en 2006 le concours de projets.

N'hésitez pas en commentaire à ajouter des informations sur la bibliothèque d'Al Mamzar, ou annoncer d'autres constructions du genre !
